Independent Study 2

  • English Round Table 11, Dongjak-daero 29-gil Dongjak-gu, Seoul South Korea (map)

Today is the first class in our new nine class set. Our case study today is about Corico.

I'm Marisa Steans, a software developer from California and cofounder of a Korean startup, Corico. Corico is an augmented reality (AR) and blockchain startup. Our one-liner in Korean is 5G 기술(블록체인/NFT, AR, AI)을 기반으로 K-엔터테인먼트/문화와 팬을 연계하는 플랫폼. We make NFTs that have greater utility with AR. Essentially we believe that NFT + AR technology can transform the way fans support entertainers/creators and buy merchandise; especially when concerts and events are difficult due to the pandemic.

This is a good resource to learn what NFTs are: https://fastventures.co.kr/perspective-day1-theme-nft/
To start off, the biggest question I have is: how can we easily introduce the usefulness of this emerging technology (NFT + AR) to customers/users?

I find that it's difficult to explain NFTs to investors and potential users when the concept is quite new and evolving rapidly. I believe that's the lightning we have to capture to create a successful platform for our users. Currently, the way we've been answering this question is to use social media and tutorials to explain how to use it in great detail.

My Korean cofounder and I are both software developers and we are very interested in getting to introduce you to this new technology as well as receive excellent feedback on our business model. And, if you have any follow-up questions or would like to see our pitch, then feel free to let us know.

Best,

Marisa Steans
