Today is the last class in our new four-class set. We will begin class with a vocabulary exercise. Our reading today is about parenting. The vocabulary words will come from our reading. Please be able to identify them in class. Our listening material will be Episode 4 Part 1. We will not study July 31st; I will see you again on August 7th.
Vocabulary
- abstract- (adj) existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence. (verb) consider (something) theoretically or separately from something else. (noun) a summary of the contents of a book, article, or formal speech.
- resentment- (noun) bitter indignation at having been treated unfairly.
- catastrophic - (adj) involving or causing sudden great damage or suffering. extremely unfortunate or unsuccessful.
- interfere - Verb) prevent (a process or activity) from continuing or being carried out properly. handle or adjust (something) without permission, especially so as to cause damage.

Key Words and Phrases
- Trace the call- this is when the police can find who you called and where you called from.
- Crack the whole case open- a major development in the case. Often times when you crack the case you are able to solve it, obviously not in this situation.
- subpoena for Adnan's cell phone records- This is a court order to allow the police to look at Adnan's private records.
- Wigged out- this is a freakout or emotional outburst.
- Jenn’s information gets muddier- Jenn's information is not clear and confusing.
- At some chicks house- a chick is a girl, so at some girl's house.
- Best Buy parking lot- Best Buy is a huge electronics store in America. They are often found in shopping centers with large parking lots.
- Shooken up- this is actually grammatically incorrect. The correct term would be "shook up." Or "was shaken up." And the definition is emotionally impacted. For example, "After the car accident, I was shaken up."
- Row houses- These are houses that are connected to one another- like a duplex, but many of them connected. In some areas, these can be very fancy places to live. But in other places, they are low-income housing.
