Independent Study 4

Today is the sixth and seventh class of our current twelve class set. We are scheduled to end this session on July 17th.

The phrase of the week is, "one size fits all." This phrase refers to solving problems with one solution. We often describe something that is not one size fits all. For example, "Marriage is difficult, there is no one size fits all solution."

Our reading today is about SEO, or search engine optimization. Do Korean users like Google? Our listening material is a dialogue about the breakroom. The vocabulary words came from the reading please be able to describe them in class. I will also add a piece of special listening material for the second half of class.

Vocabulary

  • forte - (noun) a thing at which someone excels.
  • algorithm- (noun) a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer.
  • crawling- (tech term) Googlebot (or any search engine spider) crawls the web to process information. Until Google is able to capture the web through osmosis, this discovery phase will always be essential. Google, based on data generated during crawl time discovery, sorts and analyzes URLs in real time to make indexation decisions.
  • hypocritical - (adj) behaving in a way that suggests one has higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case.
