Independent Study 10

Today is the first class of our new four class-set. The phrase of the week is, "less-than-stellar," We use this when we want to describe something that is bad in a nice way. It is similar to the phrase, "not great." For example, "I rented a car last week and the customer service was less-than-stellar."

Today's reading is about health care trends. Our listening material is about sales and marketing. It is a difficult one, so stay calm and be patient. We have studied this accent before. Our vocabulary words will come from our reading. Please be able to describe them to the class. 

Vocabulary

  • reputation -(noun) the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something.
  • preventative - (adj) designed to keep something undesirable such as illness, harm, or accidents from occurring.
  • personalize - (verb) design or produce (something) to meet someone's individual requirements. OR make (something) identifiable as belonging to a particular person, especially by marking it with their name or initials. OR cause (something, especially an issue, argument, or debate) to become concerned with personalities or feelings rather than with general or abstract matters.
  • invasive - (adj) (especially of plants or a disease) tending to spread prolifically and undesirably or harmfully OR (especially of an action or sensation) tending to intrude on a person's thoughts or privacy. OR (of medical procedures) involving the introduction of instruments or other objects into the body or body cavities.

The second part I’m going to talk about is how to create retail volume. Uh, how do you, generally when you watch a movie how do you promote it? We promote it to everybody, right? Oh, did you? There’s a recent movie that came out, a Bollywood movie that’s called Airlift. So everybody’s been talking about it, everybody on Facebook has been talking about that movie. My friends have been telling me over the phone that oh watch Airlift it’s a very nice movie. What did I do? I went and watched it- saw that movie, right? So, that is just how you, just share your products with people. Now if you are a person who loves selling, great. Talk to people as a sales person. No doubt-no problem. But if you are like me, who does not have any sales background; I haven’t done- our families are not in the business. In generations everybody has been doing jobs.
