Today is the third class in our current four-class set. We will begin class with our directions exercise. 

The phrase of the week is, "No one has the balls to do it." This is a very crude way of saying that somebody is not brave. Balls refer to a man's testicles. Therefore, if you have no balls then you are not a man. In science there are obviously exceptions. Society tells us that men are supposed to be brave. 

Today's reading is about a new Netflix show, Ugly Delicious. Our listening material from Check the Rhime by A Tribe Called Quest. The vocabulary words come from our reading. Please be able to explain them. 

Vocabulary

• totem - (noun) a natural object or animal believed by a particular society to have spiritual significance and adopted by it as an emblem.
• conundrum- (noun) a confusing and difficult problem or question.
• lavish- (adj) sumptuously rich, elaborate, or luxurious.
• candor- (noun) the quality of being open and honest in expression; frankness.
