I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. Today is the second class in our current four-class set. We will begin class with our Latin root words. 

Our phrase this week is, "through rose-colored glasses." We use this phrase when someone is being optimistic and only focuses on the positive aspects of the situation. For example, "When I was young I viewed the world through rose-colored glasses. Some people said that I was naive."

Today's reading is about cancer treatment and our listening material is about the life of a Julliard student. Please listen for the vocabulary words and be able to explain them. 

Vocabulary

• repertoire- (noun) the whole body of items that are regularly performed. OR a stock of skills or types of behavior that a person habitually uses.
• interface- (noun) a device or program enabling a user to communicate with a computer.
• product- (noun) an article or substance that is manufactured or refined for sale. OR a person whose character and identity have been formed by a particular period or situation.
• alternative- (adj) relating to behavior that is considered unconventional and is often seen as a challenge to traditional norms. OR (of one or more things) available as another possibility.
