Today is the second class of your current four class set. We will start class with a casual conversation and vocabulary exercise. Next, we will talk about our discussion questions. We will end class with your writing review.

Our reading this week is about a service in Japan that lets you hire someone to play the role of a family member. There is a moral dilemma here- in the case of Mr. Yuichi playing the role of a girl’s father for twelve years. Our writing question comes from the reading.

Our listening material this week is a Planet Money short. It is about how the credit card got its magnetic strip and chip.

Discussion Question- Why did France have so much credit card fraud? How did they solve it?

Writing Question- Do you think Mr Yuichi is a hero or villain? Give your reason. Remember, you can always take the middle ground, but it is much harder to write. If written well. It can make for a strong answer.
