Today is the second class in our current four class set. The phrase of the week is, "lay out a plan." To lay out something means to describe it. When used in a specific context it can be rather aggressive. For example, "Do I need to lay it out for you?"

Our reading this week is about foreign investment in the United States and our listening material is about the licensing effect. Please listen for and create examples for the vocabulary words. 

Vocabulary

• virtuous- having or showing high moral standards.
• mediocre- of only moderate quality; not very good.
• implication- the conclusion that can be drawn from something, although it is not explicitly stated.
• derive-  obtain something from (a specified source).
