Independent Study 5

Today is the sixth class in our current thirteen class set. Our phrase of the week is, "hard to shake." We use this phrase to describe a feeling or memory that won't leave. For example, "This experience will be hard to shake. I will remember it forever."

Today's reading is about professional ruts and our listening material is about a subway musician. This week we will have more phrases! Please listen for the phrases and try to make your own sentences.

Listening Phrases

  • workhorse- a hardworking person,  something that is markedly useful, durable, or dependable
  • feeling saucy- You can use saucy to describe someone who likes to cause trouble, but usually in a playful and funny way. Saucy is also a good word for a person who really likes to flirt.
