In Depth Discussion (Red 2)

Today is the second class in our new four class set. We will begin class with a country capitals exercise.

The phrases of the week are, "don't get me wrong" and "the last resort." We use "don't get me wrong" when we don't want to be misunderstood. For example, "Don't get me wrong I love teaching English, but sometimes it is exhausting."

"Last resort" is used to describe the final option or desperation plan. For example, "There is no one to watch the children, our last resort can be to hire a baby sitter."

Today's reading is about parenting adult children and our listening material is about Dutch families. Please listen and make examples for the vocabulary words.

Vocabulary

  • tract- an area of indefinite extent, typically a large one.
  • consensus- general agreement.
  • autocrat- a ruler who has absolute power.
  • tortuous- excessively lengthy and complex.
