The phrase of the week is, "get to the point." We use this phrase to tell someone not to waste time talking about things that don't matter. For example, "I need you to get to the point, I don't have all day." As you can see it is not the most polite phrase.
The reading today is about how to write better emails. We will also start on our first writing exercise. I just want you to introduce yourself, and then we will go into education, work, and personal goals.
This week write a paragraph introducing yourself. The purpose is professional and is usually the first part of a cover letter or a self introduction email. Here is a sample. Once you have completed your paragraph you can email it to me at koenigsjohn@gmail.com.
“I am a dedicated person with a family of four. I enjoy reading, and the knowledge and perspective that my reading gives me has strengthened my teaching skills and presentation abilities. I have been successful at raising a family, and I attribute this success to my ability to plan, schedule, and handle many different tasks at once. This flexibility will help me in the classroom, where there are many different personalities and learning styles.”
