In Depth Discussion (Red 2)

              Today is the second class of our current four class set. It is also the the last four week set before our 추석 holiday. ERT will be closed from September 21st through October 3rd. 

                Here is the material for this week. Our reading material is about hobbies and happiness. What are some things that you like to do to take your mind off things?

               Our listening material is about gender roles and stereotypes. Are some activities only for little girls and vice versa for little boys? We will discuss how to develop interests in young people. 

Idioms

  • "every cloud has a silver lining" There is something good in every bad situation. Ex. Nancy missed the school bus, but every cloud has a silver lining. She also missed the math test.
  • "salt of the earth" A person or group considered to be the finest, most admirable, and noble. Ex. Sarah is considered the salt of the earth. She volunteers for any job. 
  • "touch and go" Very risky, uncertain, or critical. Ex. It was touch and go for a while, but the doctor says my Mom will live. 
  • "burn your bridges behind you" To make a decision you cannot change; to commit oneself to a course of action. Ex. If you drop out of school now, you'll be burning your bridges behind you.
