In Depth Discussion (Red 1)

  Today is the third class of our current four class set. It is also the the last four week set before our 추석 holiday. ERT will be closed from September 21st through October 3rd. 

                Our material today is about relationships. It is common knowledge that the relationship between the mother and law and wife can be very difficult in Korea. You will be happy to know it is the same situation in America. Our reading material is about our partner's friends. Did your husband have friends prior to your marriage that you told him to get rid of? 

Idioms

  • "hat in hand" To behave in a humble and sorry way; to beg or plead for a favor or pardon. Ex. Hat in hand, I went to the judge pleading for mercy. 
  • "mind over matter" The power of your mind is stronger than the body. Ex. Nancy ran in the track meet with a twisted ankle. This is a perfect example of mind over matter.
  • "strike while the iron is hot" to act at the most favorable time or moment to get the best results; to take advantage of favorable conditions. Ex. Emily's standing there all alone. Why not strike while the iron is hot and ask her to the dance? 
  • "cold feet" A fear of doing something; a loss of nerve or confidence; second thoughts. Ex. Amy was going to merry Fred, but she got cold feet.
