Today is the start of a new four class period. We will stop with the daily questions and transition toward using and recognizing popular idioms. Our reading topic is about cafe culture and the conflict between customers that buy once cup of coffee and sit for hours at a time. Can you relate to this?

          Our listening topic is a nice TED talk by two photographers' about marriage and endurance. Please prepare a sentence with each idiom and review the vocabulary words. We will start the class with our speaking test. Here are the questions.

Daily Questions/Question on the Speaking Test 

• What was the best compliment you have ever received?
• What is a purchase that you made in the past that you regret?
• What are some of the little things you appreciate in life?
• If you had to move out of Seoul which Korean town or city would you move too?

Topic Questions

• Were you skeptical of the Korean American student who claimed she was accepted into both Stanford and Harvard?
• When climbing Mount Everest, which country's team was most likely to reach the top and which country's team was most likely to survive the expedition? Why was this?
• The Gap is closing many stores in the USA. In which country is the Gap thriving?
• Why do you think American mothers are resentful of their teenage daughters?

• "costs an arm and a leg"- very expensive
• "go belly up"- when a company goes bankrupt/dies
• "real flop"- a failure
• "put up with"- to tolerate a person or idea
